'The Recovery of Stressed Bacteria' by P J Stephens, R and D manager, Oxoid, UK discusses the effects of stress on bacteria, the manifestations of injury, the optimisation of culture media for resuscitation and viable, but non-culturable cells.

For a copy of the latest issue (or of Culture Vol 25, No 2 which featured articles on 'Multidrug resistant-tuberculosis in Regions with High Prevalence of HIV infection' and 'Iatrogenic Risks Associated with Sporadic and Variant Cretzfeldt-Jakob Disease: Inactivation of the Unconventional Causal Agents') or to be added to the mailing list for future issues, contact Val Kane at Oxoid.
