This is the second year of the Oxoid infection control team of the year awards and the judges commented on how encouraged they were by the standard of entries.
There were many examples of excellent practices and falling rates of infection from teams in all parts of the world including the UK, Canada, the Netherlands, Serbia, Denmark, Cameroon, Java, India and Russia.
With the ongoing public fear, particularly in the western world, of hospital-acquired infection the results given by many entrants prove that their work is contributing to reductions in infections such as MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus), clostridium difficile and nosocomial pneumonia.
But it was not just in the west that hospitals showed success in infection control.
As the winning entries from Argentina and Japan demonstrated, infection prevention and control is now a global subject, with teams from all over the world sharing their knowledge and best practice. Request a free brochure from Oxoid ...
