Award

Oxoid announces that Westward Laboratories, Callington, Cornwall, UK, has been awarded the prestigious Judges Special Award in the 2005/2006 Oxoid Food Awards

Westward Laboratories, which was Oxoid Laboratory of the Year 2004/2005, continued to impress the judges in the 2005/2006 competition with its commitment to staff welfare and training and, ultimately, staff retention The achievements praised by the judges included the Happy Campaign designed to promote an open working environment allowing staff to put forward constructive ideas, give, and gain, praise and positive feedback, resolve issues quickly and improve channels of communication

Westward also demonstrated a commitment to training for new staff, development of middle management and a comprehensive roll out of safety compliance training.

In addition to training, the company has also looked at succession planning and gained the Investors in People Award.
