Infection control award winners
announced
Hospitals from Wolverhampton and Southampton, UK, and from Viet Nam and NIgeria, recognised for their roles in tackling major hospital-acquired infections
Oxoid recently hosted a celebratory dinner to congratulate the winners of the 2006/2007 Oxoid Infection Control Team of the Year Awards Three teams were present to receive their prizes from Ali Ball, marketing and distributor sales director, Oxoid and by the awards judges

First prize winner Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust, UK, received a trophy and £5000 in recognition of outstanding achievements.
Cho Ray Hospital, Vietnam, received second prize and was awarded a framed certificate and £1000.
Two teams were awarded joint third prize.
Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust, UK attended the celebration and received £500 and a framed certificate.
The Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Nigeria also shared joint third prize and will receive its awards locally in Nigeria.
"We were delighted to recognise the achievements of the winning teams," commented Fiona Macrae, Oxoid marketing communications and awards manager.
"Oxoid products play a major part in helping to identify and diagnose major hospital-acquired infections such as Clostridium difficile and MRSA, and the Oxoid Infection Control Team of the Year Awards give us the opportunity to officially recognise the true team effort that microbiologists, laboratory staff, infection control doctors and nurses all play in striving to make hospitals safer for us all".
