The UK chapter of the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) will host a networking seminar on the prevention, control and detection of mollicutes in pharmaceutical processes on 10 September in Nottingham.

Registration is now open for the half-day meeting, which will provide an overview of current thinking on mycoplasmas, best practice in detection and filtration, media fill trials and the impact of regulation on testing.

The agenda will cover: an introduction to BioCity (where the event is being held); an introduction to mycoplasmas; the detection of mollicutes using NAT/PCR methods; filtration technology as a solution to reduce the risk of mycoplasma contamination in biotechnology processes; changes to aseptic filling validations and the impact on the media regulatory aspects of mycoplasma testing; and a case-study presentation.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the latest technological developments for mycoplasma detection and control.

It is aimed at those working within the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries within manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance, research and development, process development and validation.

For a copy of the seminar booking form, email Dr M Gibson, treasurer to the PDA's UK chapter, on mark.gibson1@astrazeneca.com.

Bookings must be received by 21 August.
