Functionalised silica and alumina
columns
Two new lines of columns with functionalised silica and alumina packings have uses including purifying amine-substituted compounds for reverse phase separations
As a direct response to customer requests, Isoc has introduced two new lines of RediSep columns with functionalised silica and alumina packings The functionalised silicas are amino-, cyano-, and fluoro-derivatised

Plates are just the tool for method development
Due to the exact match to column media these glass plates provide the user with confidence and increased reproducibility for normal-phase separations
These silicas are useful for purifying amine-substituted compounds for reverse phase separations, especially using dipole-dipole interactions for selectivity and for separating fluorinated compounds based on their degree of fluorination.
There are three different alumina columns available, for basic, acidic, and neutral compounds.
Using these columns eliminates the need to add a counter ion to separate an ionic molecule using a silica substrate.
So, where triethylamine or acetic acid are used as counter ions with silica columns, they are not needed with alumina and do not have to be removed after the fractions have been collected.
The chance of undesirable reations is also reduced.
