Ultrasound gets full marks
Satisfaction with the technologies and capabilities of a flagship ultrasound system from superintendent radiographer at Alder Hey
"The resolution is extremely good and allows us to make an accurate assessment of disease.
The Doppler is very sensitive, useful for arterial work and excellent for low flow situations.
We are also using a transvaginal probe with the new HDI 5000 and this has allowed us to extend our existing gynaecological service.
The images are superb and the service is now more accurate and reliable." The hospital already uses an HDI 3000 in the vascular laboratory, but wanted to replace an older system for general ultrasound.
Following a thorough evaluation of alternatives, it was past experience of the Philips Ultrasound system that played a crucial role in the buying decision.
Dr Parnell continued: "We wanted another instrument for vascular work and already knew that the 3000 could do the job.
Our other system had never really performed, and quite frankly, we couldn't afford to buy anything else but another Philips." Dr Parnell is equally impressed with the service he has received from Philips.
He concluded: "Andy Bell, the service representative is absolutely brilliant.
He is terribly knowledgeable as he was once a vascular technician.
He is young, enthusiastic and hugely supportive of our department.
His visits are always both a pleasure and an educational experience.".
