Seal of approval from Royal Lancaster

Ultrasound system gains yet another endorsement from the medical profession, this time at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary

Philips Ultrasound's HDI 5000 SonoCT passed a thorough evaluation with flying colours according to Malcolm Dalziel, consultant radiologist at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The Radiology department has invested in two of these state-of-the-art ultrasound instruments, not only for general imaging but also to help with an increase in the antenatal workload and the introduction of a new vascular service.

Dr Dalziel explained: "We made a direct comparison between instruments from different manufacturers, using them in parallel on the same patients.

After careful consideration, we decided the HDI 5000 SonoCT system was best overall, particularly for colour flow and high resolution soft tissue work.

The systems are easy to move, user-friendly and the probes can be shared between new and existing Philips instruments.

The SonoCT feature is proving especially useful in biliary work, plaque evaluation and for developing the department's musculoskeletal work.

The applications specialists are also a great help, always well informed, flexible and good at teaching new features.".
