Sharoe Green Hospital, part of the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, has seen significant improvements to patient services since the installation of a new ultrasound system

Sharoe Green Hospital, part of the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, has seen significant improvements to patient services since the installation of a Philips HDI 4000 ultrasound system Tracy Butcher, superintendent radiographer, explained: "Our ante-natal booking service machine urgently needed replacing and, with a set budget for a mid-range machine to support the obstetrics and gynaecology service, we looked at several systems

"The HDI 4000 came at a very competitive price and had good image quality.

"It has the usual colour Doppler, basic 3D capabilities and good harmonics and, as the Trust purchased five Philips HDI 5000 systems in September 2002, having interchangeable transducers between these systems proves very useful.

"The new instrument has made a real difference to our detection rates in the first trimester and the aftercare too has been brilliant.

"Several of us have attended Philips optimisation days and found them to be really good for training and support.

"The HDI 4000 is certainly an excellent mid-range machine.".
