The diagnostic imaging department at Newcastle Nuffield Hospital is delighted with its new ultrasound system

The diagnostic imaging department at Newcastle Nuffield Hospital is delighted with its new HDI 5000 SonoCT system from Philips Ultrasound Eunice Eldridge, diagnostic imaging manager, explained: "The new instrument is just superb

"The images from our old instrument were not clear enough for musculoskeletal imaging, but now we can offer this service along with all general ultrasound applications.

"Even with the very small hockey stick probe, we can detect small lesions and tears in tissues and everything can be seen in minute detail.

"We looked at other instruments but chose the Philips system because it is very user friendly and images are excellent.

"We have also found the option to reprint films useful and the radiologists often download images for teaching purposes.

"We have 34 radiologists here on a rotational basis and Jo Thomas, the applications specialist from Philips, spent a lot of time training the majority of them on a one-to-one basis.

"Now they have been shown how to use it, they are very impressed and are able to use the instrument to its full capability.".
