Latest in a series of endorsements for ultrasound system comes from a Bupa hospital in the north-east of England

A new Philips Ultrasound HDI 5000 SonoCT system is helping radiologists at Bupa Hospital Washington in Tyne and Wear to cope with the increased demand in ultrasound scans Julie McGuire, radiology mnager in the X-ray department, explained: "With the increase in private healthcare plans there is a huge demand for ultrasound investigations

"Our department performs a wide range of different scans complimenting other imaging techniques, including vascular, musculoskeletal, intra-cavity and ultrasound guided biopsies and aspirations.

"We chose the HDI 5000 system as most of the consultants are familiar with the equipment and are impressed with the quality of the images it produces.

"The scanner has extra features that were not available on other equipment and Philips spent some time getting the correct combination of probes so that all specialities were accommodated.

"The radiologists specialising in musculoskeletal ultrasound are particularly impressed with the hockey stick probe, which they did not have on the old machine.
