New clinical imaging suite at West Middlesex University Hospital selects ultrasound system for image quality

The new state-of-the-art clinical imaging suite at West Middlesex University Hospital has chosen a Philips Ultrasound HDI 5000 SonoCT system with Xres to cope with an increase in workload, both for general ultrasound applications and a new vascular service the department now provides Jotshna Rattan, superintendent ultrasonographer in the department, explained: "We chose the HDI 5000 after evaluating several machines because it demonstrated excellent image quality and our previous experience of good customer service from Philips Ultrasound

"The Xres and SonoCT features are especially impressive as they provide an extra boost to the resolution, cutting out all the clutter and noise and giving an extremely sharp, smooth image.

"They prove very useful when scanning technically-challenging patients and are excellent for carrying out the more advanced examinations".

Tom Naunton Morgan, consultant radiologist and director of clinical imaging, added: "The iScan feature of this system automatically optimises the gray scale image and Doppler and reduces the keystrokes needed to get the best image.

"It is also very useful to be able to interchange probes between all our Philips Ultrasound systems.

"Overall, we have had very good back-up and a very good deal".

Rattan concluded: "The Philips Ultrasound applications specialists have been very helpful, providing our seven radiologists and three sonographers with system training and fine-tuning the pre-set programs to our liking.

"The engineers have helped in linking to the PAC system and we are now fully functioning.".
