PerkinElmer OneSource laboratory services help Pfizer to focus on important esearch and development functions that lead to innovative new medicines

PerkinElmer has announced that its new OneSource laboratory services business has signed an expanded agreement to provide a wide range of laboratory services for Pfizer Global Research and Development (PGRD) in Nerviano, Italy Under this new agreement, PerkinElmer will provide repair, maintenance, and validation services for sophisticated liquid chromatography systems as well as autosamplers and interfaces originally supplied by eight different manufacturers

In addition, PerkinElmer OneSource technicians will be stationed on-site and available as needed to sustain PGRD's ongoing laboratory instrument operations.

The Nerviano site is one of PGRD's main research facilities.

Of its roughly 1000 employees, more than 700 are primarily devoted to oncology drug discovery, pre-clinical and medical development and regulatory projects.

"Our recently-expanded agreement with PGRD reflects the growing need for service partnerships that extend beyond essential maintenance and repair of individual instruments," said Peter Coggins, president, PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences.

"OneSource simplifies management of today's complex systems, which require broad technical competencies, complicated protocols and procedures challenging validation and qualification.

Many of our largest customers are being challenged to improve productivity and comply with a host of regulations across multiple sites and functions.

OneSource reduces this burden and helps labs maximise the potential of key assets by predictably maintaining instrument operations and improving the productivity of their staffs." OneSource was recently launched specifically to help customers reduce the complexity of installing instruments, qualifying operators, and documenting laboratory processes.

By partnering with PerkinElmer OneSource, customers can take advantage of a wide range of service offerings, from on-demand repairs to validation certification to education and training.
