Scanners are said to represent an industry first for supporting both proteomic and genomic array-based applications

PerkinElmer has announced the introduction of the ProScanArray and ScanArray GX series of microarray scanners These scanners represent an industry first for supporting both proteomic and genomic array-based applications and continue to strengthen PerkinElmer's position in protein and genomic array applications, says the company

The ProScanArray series of multi-application microarray scanners are state-of-the art, upgradeable systems.

These newly designed systems utilise proven confocal technology that collects more signals of interest so that background noise is automatically lowered, delivering a higher signal-to-noise ratio and better sensitivity.

PerkinElmer has designed these microarray scanners to integrate image acquisition and analysis for proteomic and genomic applications through its exclusive ProScanArray Express software.

This software is the first of its kind to enable users to deliver absolute quantitative microarray results as demanded by scientists analysing protein arrays.

For higher throughput applications, the ProScanArray HT features a patented 20-slide autoloader.

PerkinElmer will also introduce its new ScanArray GX, a two-laser microarray scanner ideal for genomic applications.

Optimized for traditional array applications, the ScanArray GX is driven by the latest release of the feature-enhanced ScanArray Express software.

This superior software allows for faster and highly accurate spot finding capabilities for improving the quality and accuracy of data.

"We have designed the ProScanArray and ScanArray GX series to offer the most complete open platform for array-based applications," said Peter Coggins, president, PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences.

"These are optimised solutions for the ever-evolving needs of the microarray scientist and we continue to look to provide world-class array platforms for academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical array customers".

The introduction of these new scanners compliments and strengthens PerkinElmer's existing technologies for functional proteomic and genomic microarray-based applications.

For protein array applications, these technologies include:.

ProScanArray microarray analysis systems.

True 5mm upgradeable microarray scanners designed to integrate image acquisition and analysis for both proteomic and genomic applications.

Piezorray non-contact printing system, a non-contact microdispensing system designed specifically for pipetting sub-nanolitre volumes to dense arrays.

ProteinArray Workstation, a highly flexible system designed to automate protein array experiments to improve sensitivity and reproducibility.

HydroGel coated slides, the microarray substrate engineered to maintain protein activity and accessibility for a variety of assays.

TSA automated kits, design to work with the ProteinArray Workstation for automation of Tyramide signal amplification for use on protein microarrays.

For genomic applications, these technologies include:.

SpotArray microarray printing systems, high-throughput contact spotting system for accurate and consistent microarray printing.

HybArray 12 automated hybridisation system, automates both the hybridisation and post hybridisation washing of microarrays spotted onto glass slides.

ScanArray GX microarray analysis system, a dedicated two-laser, non-upgradeable confocal microarray scanner optimised for traditional array applications.

Molecular biology reagents including Cyanine 3 and Cyanine 5 labelled fluorescent nucleotide analogues, and miRNA chemical labelling kits.
