She most recently served as vice president and associate general counsel for Avon Products, a global consumer beauty products company.
During her 11 years at Avon, O'Hara led various initiatives related to worldwide legal and regulatory compliance, corporate finance and corporate governance.
Prior to joining Avon, she was an associate at Davis Polk and Wardwell in New York, where she focused on capital markets transactions for her global clients.
Previously, O'Hara also was a leader of the Argentine business unit of Morgan Guaranty Trust of New York.
"We are very pleased to have Katherine join the senior leadership team", said Gregory Summe.
"She brings broad international experience in regulatory and compliance matters, including an excellent background in SEC and FDA regulations and general corporate law".
O'Hara holds a doctorate of law degree from Columbia University and an undergraduate degree in economics from Duke University, and she will join PerkinElmer effective 2 May 2005.
