Labsphere has presented its 2009 Innovation Award to Pro-Lite's Robert Yeo in recognition of his contribution to the development of the UV-2000S sunscreen analyser.

The UV-2000S is an affordable UV transmission spectrophotometer that satisfies the requirements of the latest cosmetics and sunscreen industry standards.

Labsphere replaced the UV-1000S with the UV-2000S in 2008.

Labsphere has since sold the UV-2000S in 19 different countries.

John Johansen, product manager at Labsphere, described the UV-2000S by saying: 'We have brought to market a user-friendly, application-specific instrument with software that can easily be upgraded to accommodate the evolution of in-vitro UVA test methods.

'As new test methods are embraced by the cosmetics industry, such as those resulting from continued ring tests within COLIPA and ISO, they will be included within the UV-2000 software.

'The UV-2000S is currently being used by six independent labs actively participating in the ISO Ring Tests.
