Chromium adds a dimension of hardness that is often required by medical device manufacturers and the genomics and proteomics market

Point Technologies announces the availability of a new electroplating service for the medical and biotech markets.

The company has added chromium plating to its existing plating offerings of gold, silver, rhodium, and nickel.

"We have been working on the addition of chromium to our arsenal of plating offering for several months now and we are very pleased to announce it to our customers and prospective customers," said company President, Kirk O'Brien.

O'Brien went on to say "Chromium adds a dimension of hardness that is often required by medical device manufacturers and the genomics and proteomics market." Point Technologies performs precision electrochemical pointing and surface treatment in addition to burr-free cutting of wire and tubing for the medical device industry.

The company is also the largest semiconductor manufacturer of wafer test probe needles and a supplier of genomic and proteomic microarray spotting pins to the biotech market.

In the medical field, Point Tech manufactures specialty needles such as electrolysis needles, electrosurgery/cautery electrodes and fixation helices (spiral electrodes).

The company also produces razor-edged tubing used in surgeries as micro-biopsy punches and micro-trephines.
