System solution for forensics in Germany
Designed to meet European forensic requirements, this system amplifies the seven ENFSI approved STR loci, amelogenin and the highly polymorphic SE33 (ACTBP2) locus in a single amplification
The PowerPlex ES system from Promega is a multiplex STR system for use in DNA typing including forensic DNA analysis, human identity testing, tissue culture strain identification and paternity testing DNA profiling has become a highly effective method for human identification in criminal prosecution

Promega, a leading provider of human identification systems, has designed the PowerPlex ES system to specifically meet the requirements of the forensic community in Europe.
Demonstrating Promega's continued commitment to provide new and innovative solutions, the new PowerPlex ES amplifies the seven ENFSI approved STR loci, amelogenin and the highly polymorphic SE33 (ACTBP2) locus in a single amplification.
SE33 (ACTBP2), required for the German national DNA database (DAD), is a complex hypervariable STR locus with over 65 variations in length and about 50 variations in DNA sequence observed within its alleles.
It has an exceptional matching probability of one in 114.94 (FGA = 1 in 24.3) and is therefore highly informative in DNA profiling.
The exceptional power of exclusion provided by SE33 combined with the other seven loci means the PowerPlex ES provides a matching probability of one in 5.914x10(10) and a power of exclusion of 0.999946.
To ensure resolution of closely migrating SE33 fragments a separation control containing five SE33 alleles is included.
Allele determination is simplified with the inclusion of an allelic ladder for all nine loci including most of the frequently occurring microvariants.
PowerPlex ES also provides maximum sensitivity with reproducible results using less than 0.5ng DNA and maximum precision with the Internal Lane Standard ILS600.
It is compatible with the ABI Prism 310 and 3100 genetic analysers and ABI Prism 377 DNA sequencer.
