Luminometer detects tiny amounts
Easy-to-use single-tube luminometer with single or dual injectors and fluorescent modules offers sensitivity for bioluminescent and chemiluminescent assays
A new single-tube luminometer with the ability to detect as few as 3x10-21 moles of luciferase is now available from Promega The Turner BioSystems 20/20n luminometer is said to be ideal for both bioluminescent and chemiluminescent assays, offering a broad, linear dynamic range of over eight decades enabling samples of widely differing intensities to be measured without dilution

Luciferase reaction has an extended half-life of over five hours giving great flexibility when carrying out luminescence measurements
The 20/20n uses a built-in touchscreen with clear instructions for use.
Several Promega-specific assay protocols are pre-loaded for easy access, whilst users can store up to 18 custom protocols for their own use.
Other user improvements also include choice of interface language (English, Deutsch, Francais etc) and sample identification.
Light output can be measured from either liquid or solid samples, which can be in either standard 1.5ml microfuge tubes or in 35mm petri dishes.
The luminometer can be configured to start measurement as soon as the lid is closed.
A number of optional accessories are available for the luminometer.
Dual injectors can be supplied which are positioned next to the sample chamber.
Completely visible plumbing eliminates problems and allows easy inspection during flushing and priming.
The injectors can dispense volumes between 25-300ul and can be used to measure flash reactions.
In addition, two optional snap-in fluorescent modules (UV and BLUE) are available which extend the flexibility of the luminometer to DNA, RNA and protein quantification.
Data generated by the luminometer can be recorded in several ways.
The last 20 measurements can be accessed directly from the touchscreen.
Alternatively, data can be sent directly to an attached printer during measurement or exported to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
Advanced options allow the subtraction of background from all measurements, the calculation of average and standard deviations, and the reporting of kinetic measurements.
The 20/20n Luminometer complements the recently launched Veritas Microplate Luminometer meaning that Promega can now supply a choice of instruments to suit individual research needs.
