Delphian Technology, a provider of fibre-optic analytical tools for pharmaceutical dissolution analysis, has developed a small volume dissolution apparatus, called the uDiss.

Delphian Technology, a provider of fibre-optic analytical tools for pharmaceutical dissolution analysis, has developed a small volume dissolution apparatus, called the uDiss Designed for use with the firm's patented fibre-optic dissolution monitoring systems, the uDiss handles volumes as small as 2ml for intrinsic dissolution measurements on powders and for polymorph screening during scaling-up of compound production

Because of the real-time, in situ measurements taken by Delphian's Rainbow Dynamic Dissolution Monitor, the uDiss requires no removal of samples during measurement.

High data density and detailed, real-time dissolution profiles are the results.

"We are excited to be able to fill this long-standing need in the pharmaceutical discovery process," said Per Nielsen, president of Delphian Technology.

"Only the combination of uDiss with the Rainbow Dynamic Dissolution Monitor makes this possible".

The system will be available with two options - micro, for volumes of 5ml to 20ml, and ultra-micro, for volumes from 2ml to 4ml.

Other features include: a six-well stable-temperature aluminium block capable of holding 12mm or 24mm vials for 2-4ml and 5-20ml dissolution respectively; individually controlled mini-stirrers for reproducible results; digital RPM readout of stirring speed; a sturdy probe manifold to provide uniform height; an outfit for thermostatically controlled water bath circulation; and Indigo dissolution software that provides a simple, user-friendly interface which allows quick method development.

Developed in cooperation with a major pharmaceutical customer, uDISS is available immediately in North America and Europe.
