Water treatment specialist ProMinent Fluid Controls has introduced a new bromine measurement probe, BRE1, which measures both free and bound bromine

The BRE1 bromine measurement probe from ProMinent Fluid Controls can be used in conjunction with a Dulcometer D1C bromine measurement control unit and an in line probe housing to provide a complete system for bromine disinfection control in a wide variety of water treatment applications Bromine is an effective alternative to chlorine disinfection in a number of applications, ranging from industrial rinsing baths and cooling towers through to swimming pool and hot spa pool water

Bromine works reliably even at high pH values, and is a more effective algicide than chlorine.

In addition it does not impart the characteristic odour associated with chlorine-based disinfection.

The BRE1 measures total bromine, since both free and bound bromine contribute to the disinfection process.

The BRE1 has a measurement range of 0.2 - 10mg/l at a water temperature of 5-45C and at pH values between 6.5 and 9.5.
