Secure off-site cryogenic storage of 'irreplaceable' biological samples seen as a crucial element in ambitious proteomics discovery programme

Proteome Systems and Cryosite have signed an agreement under which Cryosite will provide and manage secure cryogenic storage of valuable biological and clinical samples for Proteome Systems's discovery programmes The sample storage conditions have been optimised by Proteome Systems for proteomic analysis

Rebecca Harcourt, discovery programme leader at Proteome, believes that "correct storage of irreplaceable biological samples is vital to ensure long-term preservation and integrity.

We have obtained many clinical samples from around the world for use in our discovery programmes.

These samples may hold the key to several of our diagnostic and therapeutic programmes." Gordon Milliken, CEO, Cryosite said: "We are very pleased to be able to help Proteome Systems's discovery programme by providing a secure, off-site cryogenic storage facility.

We are committed to providing leading companies such as Proteome Systems with state-of-the-art storage technology".

"Clinical samples are very precious", Keith Williams, CEO of Proteome, said.

"We store them in two ways.

The first is cryogenic storage of sample aliquots which need to be kept at ideal conditions for a long time.

We have found the Cryosite partnership to be outstanding for this application.

Secondly, we archive protein arrays on membranes ('protein chips') for analysis with our chemical printing and chip printer technologies.
