Profibus installers pass with flying
colours

Profibus reports a 100% pass rate, with an average mark of 82%, in the first cohort to complete its Certified Profibus Installer course at Manchester Metropolitan University

The launch of the Certified Profibus Installer course on the 19th October developed and delivered at Manchester Metropolitan University was a great success, with all delegates passing the written and practical tests The average mark was 82%, reported a delighted Andy Verwer, principal lecturer and the course presenter

This one-day, hands-on course teaches electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include fieldbus installation the design, installation and testing of complete Profibus networks including DP/FMS, PA and optical fibre technology.

Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course teaches delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

The course provides theoretical and practical training in Profibus network technology using a hands-on approach.

It finishes with multiple-choice and practical tests that ensure the competence of the trainees.

Successful candidates are awarded Certified Profibus Installer status.

The UK's first Certified Profibus Installers are Gary Hicks of MJ Gleeson, Nigel Stanier, Mike Rowe and Ted Revill of FMA Process Engineering, Richard Newsham of Landis Lund, Nigel Bass of RG Automation, Graham Peach and Dave Pagett of Eurotherm and Anthony Gregory of Manchester Metropolitan University.

The course takes place approximately every two months at the Profibus Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University.

It can also be presented on-site at a company's own premises for groups of up to eight delegates.
