Additional courses for Profibus Certified Engineer and Certified Installer training programme announced

Following the success of its Certified Engineer and Certified Installer training programme, Profibus UK has arranged for additional courses to be held at the Profibus Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University Since the UK launch in autumn 2001, 38 engineers have passed the Certified Engineer course and over 50 technicians have passed the Certified Installer course

Certified Engineer course: 1 and 29 October, and 26 November.

Certified Installer course: 25 October, 22 November, and 13 December.

The 3½-day Certified Engineer course satisfies the growing demand for engineers with proven qualifications in networking for industrial applications.

It deals with the theory of Profibus network operation, the installation, hook-up and connection of networks and the troubleshooting of networks.

It contains both theoretical and practical portions with supplemental training with multiple master devices.

Successful completion entails passing a written exam and a practical test to become a 'Certified Profibus Engineer'.

The Certified Installer course was introduced because most fieldbus system problems arise as a result of failure to observe elementary electrical disciplines in the installation process.

Recognising that this is a serious problem affecting not just Profibus but other fieldbuses too, Profibus UK's courses help electrical engineers and plant technicians understand the techniques needed for successful fieldbus installation.

The one-day course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete Profibus networks including DP/FMS, PA and optical fibre technology.

Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

The course provides theoretical and practical training in Profibus network technology using a hands-on approach.

The course finishes with multiple-choice and practical tests that ensure the competence of the trainees.

Successful candidates will be awarded Certified Profibus Installer status.

Due to the hands-on nature of these Courses, places are limited.

Interested persons are advised to call Profibus UK or register online to secure their place.
