Profinet workshop at the NEC
Free workshop at the Team Show will cover the basics of Profinet, and participants will receive clear guidelines for its implementation plus an overview of the future developments
Today, two key factors are influencing new automation concepts: the emergence of distributed and component-oriented control structures, and the convergence of industrial automation and the IT of high-level management The new Profinet concept takes this trend into account by offering a simple and cost-effective solution for both aspects of new automation structures with one single technology

Standardising Profinet in process automation
After completing the integration of Profibus PA in Profinet IO, work was extended to include the integration of Hart and Foundation Fieldbus
It enables open engineering in distributed automation systems and meets the demand from end-users for a transparent concept for the vertical integration of Profibus systems into the broader IT infrastructure.
It integrates Profibus with de facto IT standards such as Com, DCom, ethernet, TCP/I and OPC-DX to offer a complete, seamless hierarchy of automation for modern manufacturing operations.
But who's using Profinet and what benefits are they getting? What products are available? How can I get started with Profinet? The answers to these and many more questions will be revealed at the Profinet Application and Implementation Workshop at the Total Engineering And Manufacturing show at the NEC, 14 November.
The workshop - which is free of charge to pre-registered delegates - will cover the basics of Profinet and participants will receive clear guidelines for its implementation plus an overview of the future development of Profinet.
There will be a demonstration of the interconnection editor, which enables the integration of different devices of any manufacturer into the automation system.
The agenda will address: 1: Distributed Automation with Profinet: An overview of automation trends and explanation of the Profinet concept for reducing engineering overhead.
2: Profinet Engineering: Manufacturer-independent, central, plant-wide configuration instead of programming.
3: Communication in the plant with Profinet: Ethernet networks in automation; Integration of fieldbuses into Profinet; OPC DX.
4: Demonstration: An application example using a demonstration model and the Interconnection Editor.
5: Profinet in practice: User report with an application example; products.
6: Profinet today and in future: Latest status and future developments.
