PC control of microscope stage movement

Stepper motor controller has been designed to drive any combination of motorised stage, focus motor, filter wheel and shutters, all from a PC

Prior Scientific currently manufactures a market leading range of high quality motorised accessories for microscopes, including stages, filter wheels, focus drives, shutters and controllers To complement this range it has developed a PCI card allowing high speed stepper motor control

The PCI stepper motor controller has been designed to drive any combination of motorised stage, focus motor, filter wheel and shutters, all from a PC.

The card can be installed directly into any standard full size PCI slot, thus eliminating the need for a separate controller box.

This has the immediate advantage of saving valuable workspace in the lab.

The Prior PCI stepper motor controller has a communication response time of less than 250 nanoseconds, which is said to be over 100 times faster than a standard RS232 interface.

Using the PCI stepper motor controller enables movement of the stage in increments as small as 0.01 microns for the X and Y axis and 0.002 microns for a Z axis focus motor.

To give the ultimate in positioning accuracy the Prior PCI controller has the ability to accept inputs from both linear and rotary encoder modules.

The fully CE compliant PCI controller is supplied with a 32 bit DLL (Data Link Library) that is compatible with both existing products from Prior Scientific, including the ProScan and OptiScan ranges and also the majority of stages, filter wheels, shutters and focus drives available from other manufacturers.
