Control system automates microscope focus

Prior Scientific has introduced a focus-only control system for modern microscopes.

Ideally suited to applications involving extended focus or Z-stacking, the ES10Z offers a low-cost, compact, yet powerful system to automate a microscope's focusing mechanism.

A precision motor assembly fits directly to the microscope focus knob and is operated from a controller.

The controller provides a clear display showing the current position at all times while separate controls are provided for rapid movement up or down along with the facility to change the speed of the focus movement.

A manual focus knob is also provided for greater comfort and ease of operation.

The ES10Z is compatible with leading imaging software packages, which means it can be controlled via an imaging platform, making extended focus images easy to generate.

The system can be used on many different microscopes including inverted and upright compound microscopes, plus stereo microscopes.

For more demanding applications, the ES10Z supports encoders to ensure precision and accuracy.
