Array detection system uses resonance light scattering technology, a non-fluorescent method for signal generation and detection

The Qiagen HiLight array detection system uses resonance light scattering (RLS) technology, a non-fluorescent method for signal generation and detection The intense signals produced by the HiLight system enable simple and highly sensitive detection of low-abundance mRNAs with just 1-2µg total RNA - without the need for amplification steps

The flexible system is suitable for use with a wide variety of self-spotted or commercial arrays.

RLS technology is based on the optical light-scattering properties of nano-sized metal colloid particles illuminated by a standard white light source.

Because of the metallic nature of HiLight RLS particles, there is no reduction of signal due to photobleaching.

Samples can be re-measured multiple times with optimal exposures to detect both low- and high-intensity signals on the same microarray.

The system consists of HiLight detection kits, reader, image analysis software, and an accessory kit.

The system is designed to provide greater sensitivity and to improve the lower limit of detection compared with current fluorescence technologies.

Compared with commonly used fluorescent Cy dyes, the HiLight detection system provides equivalent or superior sensitivity using a tenth of the RNA.

HiLight detection kits provide optimised particles and hybridisation, washing, blocking, and staining reagents, with protocols to perform experiments on five or 24 separate microarray slides.

The HiLight detection kits Plus provide the additional LabelStar array kit for highly efficient labeling and cleanup of cDNA, guaranteeing optimal labeling conditions for HiLight detection.
