This comprehensive tool is the first siRNA set specific for the human coronavirus, and allows gene silencing studies of coronavirus replication and cytopathology in mammalian cell culture

Qiagen continues to expand its range of products for RNAi by offering the new Sars-Coronavirus siRNA set This comprehensive tool is the first siRNA set specific for the human coronavirus, and allows gene silencing studies of coronavirus replication and cytopathology in mammalian cell culture

The 40 siRNA duplexes in the Sars-Coronavirus set were designed to target each of the ten identified open reading frames (ORFs) of the Sars-coronavirus.

Regions of the ORFs were chosen that avoided known areas of sequence divergence in the genome sequences reported in GenBank.

The sequences were designed by experienced Qiagen scientists using a state-of-the-art algorithm.

A comprehensive homology analysis was performed to ensure that there was no cross homology to known human genes, maximising the gene silencing potential.

Each set also includes a positive control lamin A/C siRNA and a non-silencing negative control siRNA.

Optimised protocols for transfection of siRNA in mammalian cell lines are provided with the kit.

HPP (high-performance purity) grade siRNA is used for all duplexes.

HPP Grade siRNA is >90% pure, and thorough quality control checks are performed, ensuring efficient gene silencing.
