Life's a peach
First array-ready oligo set for the peach fruit genome contains probes representing genes which are related to fruit development, for microarray analysis of peach fruit gene expression
Qiagen announces the release of the first array-ready oligo set for the peach fruit genome This new oligo set contains 4806 70mer probes representing genes which are related to peach fruit development, and provides a valuable tool for microarray analysis of peach fruit gene expression

Sequences were also derived from the work of the ESTree Consortium, comprising several research centers in Italy dedicated to genomic and functional genomic studies in peach.
The primary objectives of the ESTree Consortium are to develop an extensive peach EST database, to analyse biochemical pathways based on microarrays derived from the EST database, and to SNP-map ESTs on available molecular linkage maps.
"The Qiagen array-ready oligo set promises to be an invaluable tool in order to reach our goals", said Carlo Pozzi of Parco Tecnologico Padano.
The current members of the ESTree Consortium are: Fondazione Parco Tecnologico Padano, FPTP, Lodi; University of Padua, Department of Biology and Department of Environmental Agronomy and Crop Science (DAAPV); Istituto Sperimentale per la frutticoltura (ISF), Roma; Istituto di Biologia e Biotecnologie Agrarie- Sez Roma, CNR; University of Udine; CNR-IBBA, Milan.
The FPTP and Universities of Padua and Udine carry out EST sequencing, mapping, and microarray design, while the ISF and CNR are involved in mapping of quantitative traits, physiological studies, and database design.
Qiagen uses state-of-the-art methodology and proprietary software for probe design.
Each probe is melting-temperature normalised and includes a 5' amino linker to facilitate substrate attachment.
Extensive annotation for the Peach Fruit Genome oligo set will be provided on the Qiagen oligo microarray database (OMAD).
The Peach Fruit Genome oligo set is provided in 384-well plate format with 600pmol of probe per well.
A control plate with 24 (12 positive and 12 negative) controls in 16 replicates is also included.
Sample sets, which contain 96 optimised 70mers in 384-well plate format at 600pmol per well, are also available.
