Randox unveils compact biochip imaging platform

A Randox Laboratories product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Oct 16, 2009

Randox has introduced the Evidence Investigator: a biochip system designed for research, veterinary, clinical and forensic applications, with 54 samples being analysed per run.

The Evidence Investigator utilises the company's Biochip Array Technology (BAT), which allows the simultaneous detection of multiple analytes from a single sample volume as low as 25ul.

A single 9 x 9mm biochip acts as the reaction vessel, replacing multiple cuvettes in this bench-top semi-automated analyser.

The compact biochip imaging platform comprises a super-cooled charge-coupled-device camera and customised image processing software.

The Evidence Investigator has a wide test menu available, including cardiac, cytokine, drugs of abuse, cerebral, thyroid, adhesion molecules, tumour monitoring, fertility, Ranplex CRC DNA array, growth promoter and anti-microbial arrays.

In addition to the range of existing analytes, more than 220 new tests are in development.

The technology employed by the Evidence Investigator is claimed to be user friendly, utilising Windows-based software.

It can be integrated with laboratory information management systems and offers QC data generation, results requiring no manual manipulation and user-defined cut-off values.
