Productive parallel chemistry for low volumes

Radleys Discovery Technologies has introduced a new range of reduced volume reaction vessels further extending the utility of its Carousel 6-place, Carousel Reaction Station, and Metz Syn10 products.

For solution phase chemistry and solid supported reagent based syntheses the RDT Carousel 6-place and Reaction Station have become international industry standards for productive controlled parallel reactions of 5-250ml volume, RDT claims.

However in applications including library generation and in many screening processes where samples and reagents are expensive or sparsely available, the new reduced volume reaction kits usefully extend the working volume of the Carousel range down as low as 1ml.

To achieve the reduced volume, aluminium inserts are inserted into the reaction stations to maintain excellent thermal transfer to the smaller diameter glass reaction vessels.

Using reduced volume glass reaction tubes enables more efficient stirring of small samples than could be achieved in the standard larger vessels.

In addition the increased surface area to volume ratio achieved with small samples, compared to larger reaction vessels, allows for more effective heating.

Said to be ideal for chemists involved in all aspects of reaction optimisation and process development, the Metz Syn10 enables chemists to quickly discover the optimal conditions for their chemical reactions by simultaneously running up to ten reactions, each with a different temperature, from -30C to +150C and stirring control from 250rpm to 1200rpm.

The new reduced volume reaction kit for the Metz Syn10 enables reaction volumes of between 1-10ml to be effectively studied under inert atmosphere with full refluxing capabilities.
