RSSL's Emergency Response Service has been relaunched, with new membership options to better reflect the different ways in which clients need to access urgent analytical services

When RSSL first introduced this innovative service back in 1989, only one class of membership was available Now companies in the food, drink, and pharmaceutical sectors are more aware of how vital testing can be at the time of a product crisis, but not all are in need of a facility to call out the scientists at weekends or at midnight

Therefore, RSSL is introducing a new three tier system to its ERS.

The platinum service will permit access to a range of defined services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Gold service members will enjoy priority access to RSSL's services, but only during normal working hours.

Silver members will also have priority access during normal working hours, but at a non-member rate.

"Many companies are aware of their vulnerability to product emergencies but were reluctant to go for full membership of the ERS," says Karen Masters.

"Under the new system, they will be better able to assess their risks and the type of cover that will best suit their needs".

Last year, the ERS dealt with more than 500 emergency incidents.

Of these 59% were concerned with food and drink products, and 32% were from the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

Most incidents involved foreign bodies, chemical contaminants and off-flavour/taint issues.
