Resin for capture, purification and
concentration
The 'ideal' chromatographic media for the separation of solutes, combining narrow particle size distribution, good meso porosity and high surface area.
Amberlite XAD1800 polymeric adsorbent resin is the latest addition to Rohm and Haas's advanced biosciences range of acrylic, aromatic and phenolic adsorbents Amberlite XAD 1800 is said to provide an excellent first purification step in the recovery and purification of antibiotics such as Cephalosporin C from complex fermentation broths and under high loading conditions

A nonionic, hydrophobic crosslinked polymer derives its adsorptive properties from its patented macroreticular structure, high surface area, controlled pore size distribution and from the aromatic nature of its surface.
It is described as the ideal chromatographic media for the separation of solutes, combining narrow particle size distribution, good meso porosity and high surface area.
In laboratory tests performed on the purification of Cephalosporin C from industrial broth, Amberlite XAD1800 media has demonstrated a much higher loading capacity than a well-known commercial polymeric adsorbent resin: 78g/l versus 35g/l while no negative effect on leakage has been noted, says Rohm and Haas.
Its selectivity together with a low swelling between solvent and aqueous media improves column utilisation.
In representative antibiotics capture protocols, it operates with reduced cycle times: 12 to 16 hours including regeneration.
Amberlite XAD1800 adsorbent is characterised by an increased lifetime.
It can be operated in traditional fixed bed mode or in simulated moving bed (SMB) operation.
Designed and manufactured with consistent quality for large scale installation, Amberlite XAD1800 is backed by the required technical and regulatory support.
