Combination of industrial robotics, dynamic scheduling software, integrated liquid handling and cell counting instrumentation and environmental control systems does well in tests

New results out this week further underline the accuracy of RTS Life Science International's Accellerator, says the company They also prove that the RTS commitment to using only best of breed instrumentation is the correct design premise

The tests were carried out by Kendro, whose Cytomat 24 features in the latest Accellerator in a 504 microplate format.

This model has a small opening door and Kendro's tests show an exceptionally constant environment can be maintained.

Stefan Betz, product manager, lab automation at Kendro explained: "The importance of constancy of environment in the cell culturing process is well understood.

"The most critical factors are CO2 level (pH value) and temperature, because they affect cell growth and mortality levels.

"Our results demonstrate that the Cytomat 24 adds to the efficacy of Accellerator".

The Accellerator cell culturing system has recently been released in a modular format.

It is a robotic system that provides total automation of cell growth, harvest, count, passage and plating.

It uses a combination of industrial robotics, easy to use dynamic scheduling software, integrated proven liquid handling and cell counting instrumentation and environmental control systems.

The system was designed with high volume users in mind and has proved ideal in this role at Astra Zeneca.

Sean Sales, RTS's Accellerator application consultant, explained: "The Accellerator has multiple Kendro incubators.

"When the door is opened on a Cytomat 24, the environmental impact is minimised because the aperture is small.

"They also lend themselves to simple interfaces with automation and most sorts of assay equipment, as there is a single point of delivery. Request free introductory details about products from RTS Life Science ...

"The latest edge effect data suggests that positioning within these incubators has a negligible effect on well plate results.".
