Shimadzu offers white paper on understanding RoHS

A Shimadzu Scientific Instruments product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team May 11, 2006

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (SSI), a developer of analytical instrumentation in the US, has announced the availability of its new free white paper 'Understanding RoHS'

The 'Understanding RoHS' paper offers guidance and tips for the many organizations that need to comply with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) regulations, which are scheduled to take effect in July of this year (2006).

RoHS regulates the concentration levels of substances considered hazardous in electrical and electronic equipment.

The white paper also provides insight into how RoHS will affect US manufacturers, how they can earn compliance, the ramifications of non-compliance, and steps toward compliance with RoHS.

"RoHS is approaching rapidly, and many US companies are lagging behind in educating themselves about compliance and the impact RoHS can have on their European business interests," said Chris Gaylor, VP sales, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments.

"This white paper is intended to help companies come to a better understanding of RoHS by identifying the requirements of the regulations and the steps necessary to gain compliance.".
