Multiresidue pesticides analysis by
GC/MS

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments has published the poster, 'Multiresidue pesticides analysis using synchronous scan/Sim mode GC/MS and chromatogram deconvolution software'

This presentation examines the use of GC/MS in screening pesticides in response to the implementation of Japan's 'positive list' system, which has increased the number of regulated pesticides significantly The positive list system is aimed at prohibiting the distribution of foods that contain agricultural chemicals above specified levels, if maximum residue limits (MRLs) have not been established

In Japan, this system became effective in May 2006.

If MRLs for a specific chemical have not been established, provisional MRLs are set.

Provisional MRLs have been established for more than 400 pesticides, taking overseas regulations into consideration.

Moreover, uniform MRL values are set for other pesticides which have no MRLs.

GC/MS and LC/MS are the traditional methods of choice for analysis of multiple pesticides.

In this presentation, Shimadzu's GCMS-QP2010 Plus, in combination with IST for GC/MS chromatogram deconvolution software, was used.

In addition to world-class sensitivity and superb hardware capabilities, the GCMS-QP2010 Plus features Fasst (fast automated scan/Sim type).

This newly developed synchronous Scan/Sim data acquisition mode enables the GCMS-QP2010 Plus to acquire both Scan and Sim data on one peak, and achieves superior spectra through high-quality quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Along with IST for GC/MS, the GCMS-QP2010 Plus demonstrated accurate quantitative analysis for target compounds and increased the productivity for screening numerous pesticides in complex matrices such as food extracts. Request a free brochure from Shimadzu Scientific Instruments ...
