Fast, stable and reliable analytical
microbalances

The high-resolution analytical and semi-microbalances in this premium range are said to be impervious to variations in ambient conditions and the different users operating them

High-resolution Sartorius ME analytical and semi-microbalances deliver reliable results independently of the ambient conditions and operating effects Weighing in the lab takes place under highly variable conditions and with a wide range of accuracy requirements

While precision balances are usually unproblematic, the weighing results of high-resolution analytical balances and semi-microbalances (readability <0.1mg) can be affected by diverse factors.

The high-resolution analytical and semi-microbalances in the Sartorius premium ME series are impervious to variations in ambient conditions and the different users operating them.

To achieve this, Sartorius's design engineers had to make a number of technical modifications.

For example, great importance was attached to reducing air currents within the draught shield.

These currents can result when inverse temperature air layering is present within the draught shield.

This temperature layering can be reversed at any time without warning, ie, as warm air rises.

The result is instability of the weight readouts.

The new Sartorius ME counteracts this effect by preventing heat from spreading, particularly heat produced by the display and control unit.

The ME series uses a new backlighting technology that generates virtually no heat, allowing extremely fast response times and highly stable readouts - all within just eight seconds.

Moreover, a simple but effective air deflector, a 'spoiler ring' that encircles the weighing pan on the new ME, enables the balance to deliver reliable results under conditions that prevail in the lab, such as draughts or currents caused by air conditioning systems.

Unlike interior draught shields, the deflector does not hamper the loading ergonomics of the weighing pan.

Static electricity, especially under the arid ambient conditions of a lab, is another disturbance that influences high-resolution weighing.

Further sources of interference affecting the weighing result include the electrostatic charges that are transferred when the operator touches the balance draught shield because such charges exert additional force onto the weighing pan.

To eliminate such effects, the glass panels of the draught shield on the Sartorius ME have been treated with a transparent conductive coating.

This coating causes any electrostatic charges transferred to dissipate immediately, thereby preventing them from affecting the weighing result.

Thanks to the systematic development of the monolithic weigh cell technology integrated into the Sartorius ME semi-microbalance, it also features an exceptionally low off-centre loading error.

This low error means the balance has a higher level of tolerance for off-centre loading of a sample. Request a free brochure from Sartorius Group ...
