Petroleum analyser detects diesel
contamination
Analyser can measure any combination of freeze, cloud, and pour point and produce appropriate ASTM test results on petroleum products including aviation fuel, diesel, and lubrication oils
The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) has de-certified all automatic and automated freezing point methods except the phase transition method, ASTM D5972/IP 435, due to poor performance of the de-certified methods in detecting the impact of diesel contamination on the freezing point of aviation fuels The phase transition method (ASTM D5972) was developed based on Phase Technology's analyser design

As of now, only the manual method (ASTM D2386) and the phase transition method (ASTM D5972) are allowed to certify jet fuels to satisfy Defence-Standard 91-91.
This action has important worldwide implications because Def-Stan 91-91 is part of the Joint fuelling system checklist (AFQRJOS) adopted by the aviation industry and all major international oil companies.
The Joint checklist combines the most stringent requirements from ASTM D1655 (Specifications for aviation turbine fuels) and Defence Standard 91-91 into an overall guideline, which provides a common basis for fuel quality in jointly operated fuel storage and hydrant systems in airports.
The Phase Technology automatic petroleum analyser available from Sartec can measure any combination of freeze, cloud, and pour point.
A single instrument can produce appropriate ASTM test results on a wide range of petroleum products including aviation fuel, diesel, and lubrication oils.
By incorporating a high performance solid-state cooler, the unit is very compact and eliminates the need for external cryogenic chillers.
The analyser has a built in LCD display that produces a graphical representation of each test and provides a multi-function interface for controlling the instrument.
The test results can be printed on to a self-adhesive label printer and output digitally via a RS232 link to Lims or a remote PC.
With testing times of between five and ten minutes, the Phase Technology automatic petroleum analyser is the fastest instrument currently available, which will help to increase productivity.
A wide range of options and configurations are available to ensure the analyser can be matched exactly to the application, these include point function, sample introduction, and an external interface.
