Capsule sinkers reduce dissolution
errors
These machine-manufactured spiral sinkers offer the advantage of being completely reproducible from vessel to vessel, thus reducing dissolution errors
Capsules sometimes require a weight to position them correctly in the bottom of the dissolution vessel, and selecting the correct size and weight can be a problem Spiral sinkers comply with the USP guidelines and are available in four- or six-wire turn configurations and several different dimensions to suit most capsule sizes
For some media, stainless steel is not ideal and so PTFE coated sinkers are also available.
