New technology can analyse suspicious materials within a minute, supplying facilities managers with the right information on which to consider evacuation

In the aftermath of the 2001 terrorist attacks and the recent perceived threats from chemical weapons, corporate management is now sharply focussed on the duty of care they owe to employees With some corporate offices holding thousands of staff, the need for timely, accurate information on which to base possible evacuation decisions has never been so critical

If a suspected injurious powder or liquid is discovered it can be hours or days before the true nature of that substance is known.

In the meantime, decisions have to be made that will have a direct effect on the well being of the employees.

Now, new technology from SensIR can analyse suspicious materials within a minute; supplying facilities managers with the right information on which to consider evacuation.

HazMatID, manufactured by SensIR Technologies, is a new system based on the design of the units already supplied to the FBI, fire departments and first responders in the USA.

HazMatID analyses suspicious powders and liquids and helps to determine if they are hazardous.

The new system is completely portable, running from an internal rechargeable battery and has a built-in computer that identifies unknowns in plain English.

Only small amounts of material are needed for a successful test; one drop of liquid, or a few grains or crystals are all that are required.

The system is completely sealed, can be used indoors or outdoors, in any location and in any conditions.
