In addition to the CPU, up to 32 input/output modules can be programmed, with a program size of up to 1000 symbols and 100 blocks.
The operator interface offers the familiar look and feel of Windows and enables the simplest navigation possible thanks to task-oriented register technology.
Project states such as input errors are indicated immediately using colours and icons.
Changeover to the Step 7 Basis/Professional package is possible using export/import functions.
This allows continued use of existing projects with expansion of communications or technology functions.
In terms of function, Step 7 Lite is positioned between Step 7 Micro/WIN, for programming the S7-200 micro PLCs, and Step 7 Basis/Professional, used for more complex automation tasks.
The new software allows users to program in their preferred method of representation; ladder diagram, statement list or function block diagram.
It has been designed particularly with simplicity in mind, and its range of functions is limited to control tasks.
Programming of function modules and communications modules is not supported, neither is configuring of network connections and distributed I/Os.
Step 7 Lite runs on Windows 98, Me and 2000, and requires only minimum resources on a programming device or PC.
