Following the closure of Electrical Equipment Certification Service (EECS) by the HSE, Sira is trying to establish how a suitable service for EECS customers can be maintained in the UK
FAS has approved Sira trainer David Holton to provide the instruction for the following four programmes: Safe use of electrical equipment in hazardous areas; Area classification; Overview of hazardous area equipment; and Hazardous area legislation.
The training can be arranged on-site and the course content tailored to suit the needs of the customer.
FAS - The Training and Employment Authority - may grant aid attendance on this training programme by qualified applicants under the FAS Training Support Scheme.
Applications for grant aid must be made to FAS before attendance on the course; grants are paid only after completion and are subject to availability of funds.
Firms employing up to 150 people in the Business Services related sectors (Commercial/ Insurance and Business Services/ Transport Communications and Storage) who intend to sponsor their staff on this programme should contact the local FAS Service to Business office to obtain information on the Scheme conditions and level of grant aid permissible.
Sira has been providing training in hazardous areas for many years, the nature of the courses covers safety of equipment, current safety legislation, and codes of practice.
This makes the courses particularly suitable for managers, engineers and technicians responsible for hazardous area equipment and plant safety or production personnel.
