Stanhope-Seta reports growing interest in the Ignition Quality Tester (IQT) The new IQT analyser is revolutionising cetane measurement providing faster, more precise results than are possible using the traditional CFR engine

Cetane is a fuel parameter of growing significance and regulatory control and IQT is now being seen by many global fuel companies as a preferred and much quicker alternative to ASTM D613 engine test method.

In brief, the IQT is a combustion-based analytical instrument which rapidly and accurately determines cetane values, contributing to much improved refinery operations and reducing operational costs.

The Analyser is suitable for testing diesel and alternative fuels such as biodiesel, as well cetane additised improved diesel fuels.

The IQT test methods are established as ASTM D6890, IP498 and PR-EN 15195.

In addition, ASTM D2 is now balloting ASTM D6890 for inclusion within the US Diesel Fuel specification D975.

With many IQTs in daily operation throughout Europe, the significant advantages which the new test procedure offers are becoming widely accepted by a broad spectrum of users, including refineries, inspection companies and the military.
