Advanced air monitor

A Southern Scientific product story
Edited by the Laboratorytalk editorial team Nov 5, 2001

The Eberline AMS-4 is a new beta continuous air monitor from Southern Scientific, that meets the latest regulatory guide 8.25 and revised 10 CFR part 20 requirements

One of the most technologically advanced systems available in its field, the compact size of the AMS-4 makes it truly portable and easy to set up in any area requiring airborne concentration measurements.

It offers a wealth of features, options and accessories and is a powerful air monitoring health physics instrument for continuous air monitoring of particulate iodine and noble gases.

The AMS-4 consists of a display unit and a choice of three remote sampling heads that provide high levels of flexibility suitable for a range of specific tasks.

The radial entry head is designed for general workplace monitoring, the in-line entry head is for drawing a sample through tubing from a stack or duct and the noble gas head automatically adjusts changing concentrations of naturally occurring radon.

Iodine collection and measurement is achieved using charcoal impregnated filter paper.

Windows-based software receives and displays information in concentration units, DAC or net beta count rate while the graphics interface provides current readings in a vertical bar graph format as well as numerical and graphical DAC history for selected CAMs.

Multiple AMS-4 monitors can be configured as a network connected to the central computer and logged data can be collected by laptop computer or printed on an optional hand held printer or remotely across the network.
