Southern Scientific now supplies the Identifinder, a digital, hand-held, gamma spectroscopy and dose rate system, in a number of different versions

The basic unit, the Identifinder-N, has a NaI(Tl) scintillation detector for gamma dose rate measurements up to 250uSv/h and gamma spectroscopy and a GM tube for high gamma dose rate measurements up to 1Sv/h and the Identifinder-NH has a similar detection system plus a He-3 neutron detector Identifinder-C has a cadmium zinc telluride room temperature semiconductor detector for gamma dose rate measurements up to 50mSv/h and a GM tube for high gamma dose rate measurements up to 1Sv/h while its counterpart is the Identifinder-CH with an He-3 neutron detector

In addition, a new version, the Identifinder-T, has been developed specifically for the IAEA Safeguards.

The unit has a special NaI(Tl) detector backshielded with an undoped NaI (not radiation sensitive) and shielded at the sides with 5mm tungsten.

This detector is sensitive for radiation only if the radiation is coming from the front.

Special firmware and software has been developed to meet the IAEA safeguards.

The Identifinder-TH is the neutron measuring version of this instrument.

Combining high sensitivity with a wide dose rate range, Identifinder is ideal for mobile gamma spectrometry and all remote applications such as advanced warning systems, hazardous environments, security and nuclear inventory monitoring.

It is capable of identifying artificial or naturally occurring isotopes from within its extensive isotope library.
