Available in the UK from Southern Scientific is the CRC-Ultra multi-function dose calibrator, with a multi-chamber concept that provides a wide range of features and is field-upgradeable at any time

Dose calibrators are used extensively in radio-pharmacies and nuclear medicine departments for the accurate administration of radioactive doses, and the CRC-Ultra is said to be ideal for PET studies as well as use in research laboratories and the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals Up to eight ionisation chambers, plus one well counter and one beta counter can be linked together in this new calibrator and, in addition, each ionisation chamber can support an intelligent remote display unit

Pre-set isotopes, auto-zero, auto-background and accuracy tests can be controlled from the display that can be positioned 30 metres from the main calibrator unit.

The CRC-Ultra can be upgraded simply and cost-effectively at any time from a basic single-chamber set-up by adding chambers, additional detectors and well counters to cater for nuclear medicine and PET, nuclear medicine and beta, nuclear cardiology and radio-chemistry.

The top configuration is know as the 'Ultimate Setup' comprising readout unit, expansion unit, additional ion chambers, well counter and beta detector to provide the ultimate degree of functionality.
