focusing

Also, to assist with cleaning of the tank, the cooling unit can be completely removed from the tank.
Two sets of electrodes are included, one for running wick based electrophoresis which are located in the lower buffer chamber, and another detachable set which attach to one of the two removable top frames.
These sit directly onto the gels wicks for IEF applications or on the glass plate support frame for horizontal precast gels techniques.
These upper detachable electrodes feature a quick snap-on mechanism onto the sides of either of the frames and are therefore held securely in place at the desired locations.
The cooling block has a large ceramic surface measuring 27cm x 27cm which facilitates even heat dissipation during running, especially important when using ultra thin IEF gels running at high voltages.
The ceramic plate also has printed grid markings for assistance with electrode placement and for accurate measurement of sample migration.
A new, improved cooling system comprises a sealed cell containing coolant through which a cooling coil is run.
Cooling is achieved passively by just having contact with the cooling plate, or actively by connecting the cooling pipes to either a tap or to a chiller to enhance the cooling effect.
These cooling pipes come complete with valved, self-sealing fittings.
This ensures that when the tubing is removed the possibility of liquid spilling from the unit onto the work surface is eliminated.
Drainage ports for the buffer chambers use the same self- sealing valve system, so that when required, these can be drained by simply snapping on the drainage tube.
