Automating the UK's largest path lab
Automated laboratory will manage the bulk of the combined chemistry and haematology workload for both organisations, processing over 50,000 tests per day
Sysmed Solutions has been chosen as the IT solutions provider to support Whitfield Street Laboratory (WSL), a new company set up to run the UK's largest, high volume, automated pathology laboratory This ground-breaking operation will provide the latest in laboratory facilities for a partnership between University College London Hospitals NHS Trust (UCLH) and the Doctors Laboratory (TDL)

The new automated laboratory will manage the bulk of the combined chemistry and haematology workload for both organisations, processing over 50,000 tests per day.
Adopting the latest in state-of-the-art analytical and robotic technologies, together with sophisticated workflow design, the new automated laboratory aims to set new standards in process efficiency.
Sysmed will be providing a responsive and flexible laboratory information management system (Lims) capable of efficiently handling the unprecedented, high volume workload, and also meeting the information processing and knowledge management requirements of both partners.
WinPath, Sysmed's Lims system, was chosen by WSL due to its proven ability to efficiently interface with, and control the sophisticated robotic and analytical technologies within the new facility.
At all stages in the laboratory process, the fully integrated WinPath Lims will recognise and differentiate samples originating from multiple sources and ensure the correct analyses are automatically performed relative to sample origin and request.
It will also seamlessly manage information streams and outcomes as required by UCLH and TDL.
