Servotechnic introduces a Nema size 14 linear/rotary dual motion unit to its hybrid stepper actuator line from Haydon Switch The dual motion unit provides linear/rotary motion in one compact package

The unique patented design provides incremental rotational and linear movement of the output shaft.

The two degrees of freedom in movement can be actuated independently or concurrently.

These drives can be run using a standard two-axis stepper motor driver.

Performance can be enhanced using chopper and/or micro stepping drives.

The actuator is based on a unique patent pending design and incorporates HSI proven motor technology.

This unit simplifies bulky and complex mechanisms.

The new design has a compact package length, which maximises linear stroke to unit length ratio.

Utilising HSI's high quality stepper motors the unit is capable of delivering up to 220N of thrust and 0.127Nm of torque.

The rotary portion is a 1.8deg step angle and can be micro-stepped for finer resolutions.

The linear axis uses the same high performance thermoplastic nut material as HSI's high efficiency long life linear actuators.

No maintenance is required and the entire actuator is designed for long service life.

It is available in a wide range of resolutions from 3 to 5 microns per step and delivers linear speeds exceeding 75mm per second.

The dual motion unit allows for simplified system design and a reduction in the number of components.

It is described as ideal for use in tight fitting applications requiring precise two degrees of freedom and controllable motion such as pick and place equipment, robotics, laboratory automation and a wide array of instrumentation.
